Global Fight League (GFL) is not dead, despite a “frustrating” financial collapse that led to the cancellation of two mixed martial arts (MMA) events back in May. In fact, the promotion has been “hard at work” on its “plans for 2026” and the team-based rosters announced earlier this year.
UFC veteran Kevin Lee may want to press pause on his “extortion” lawsuit.
“To the athletes, fans and partners, thank you for your patience and support,“ the promotion wrote on X. ”We’ve been hard at work and look forward to sharing what’s next. Stay tuned, more to come on our plans for 2026.“
Maybe Tony Ferguson was right?
GFL was recruiting athletes with dreams of a a 50-50 revenue split, health benefits and retirement plans, as well as a $20 million bank balance that lasted for just a few hours. Not surprisingly, fighters involved with upstart promotion did not react well to news that GFL was stuck in the mud.
After all, revenue sharing only works when there is revenue to share.
