Hopefully it’s not too serious
People who need double lung transplants tend to not live very long afterwards.

It depends on the person. The average median survival is 6 years, give or take. Lungs are the hardest of all organ transplants.
Ben being 41 and having been a relatively healthy pro athlete prior to his respiratory issues, leans in his favor. There are recent updates that have people surviving 20-25 years after bilateral lung transplant.
But it is a tough road, for sure.
Infection is a common potential adverse event for respiratory surgery. They will be aggressive in treatment.
He does sound really solid in his video, though. He has shown marked improvement.
I assume they had him on IV antibiotics immediately.
I don’t think it has been confirmed whether or not it was MRSA that was the original infection. He said after he got out that his lungs had been damaged by “the virus or bacteria that caused the infection” so it sounds like even he is unsure. I assume, however, that the hospital will have IDed the microbe. His memory is very possibly just hazy right now, which is not surprising if true.
It could have also been more than one and different types of them.
This was yesterday and he looks substantially worse than his previous update
I don’t know if he was any worse at the beginning of the video? Hard to watch anyway.
He’s just clearing sputem out of his lungs. That’s good news. IF he wasn’t taking laps or posting from his bed laying down, I would be worried.
It’s definitely a good thing that he’s walking around, he just looks much worse physically in that last video.
